My first one ever, never heard of them until today. He looks nice, hes sorta interesting but kinda lazy. Probably just getting used to his new home.

no, neither one belongs in a ten gallon. take them back. an oscar, red devil and fire mouth would have alot of trouble getting along in a 125 gallon tank...let alone a 10. take them back, or find a person who can care for them properly.

Already tried taking em back, they don't do returns on animals. =\

If you can't take him back then perhaps you can look for a home for him and offer him up. The only cichlids you can keep in a 10 gallon tank for any worthwhile length of time are shell dwellers and Apistogramma. No other cichlids work.

agreed. im sure there is a store in your area that will take fish in, sure you will lose your money on them, but atleast you wont be abusing them.

he has all them in a 10G?!?!?

oh and jus wanted to add that you could have a pair of german blue rams in a 10G.

He does.. the pet store lied to him about the fish... In the 10g they sold him is
1 texas cichlid (2 inches)
1 red devil (1.5 inches)
1 oscar (2 inches)
1 five star general (3 inches)
1 firemouth (2 inches)

The red devil is king of the tank with the five star in 2nd. The oscar and Firemouth are best friends and stick together hiding and attacking back in a pair. The Texas chilid doesn't really attack anyone but will fight back very hard.

If the pet store gave him misleading information, surely this is the time to go back and have a polite but firm conversation with the store manager. I don't know what you have in your parts that corresponds to the Trades Description Act, but presumably there is some legal clause against selling mis-labelled goods and your friend could casually mention this to the store manager. The arrangement he ought to push for is for the store to take the fish back against store credit. Always assuming that they did indeed tell him that they would not grow big or become aggressive.

You've got a good point. I have a hunch the guy who sold it to him was looking for a sucker, or he didn't know much about the fish/confused with other fish

return the fish to a store that will either A)hold them till u have a bigg enough tank for certain ones or B)will give you store credit which will help you to get a larger tank
