1 Electric yellow Cichlid
1 Cobalt Blue Cichlid

The only fish in that list that chases my jewel cichlid is the RTS

all they need is a 20g.

ive done some research,

can i keep it with:

1x tiger oscar,
2x severums,
2x common plecs,
1x female convict * hopeing to get annother female *
1x male firemouth,
1x rainbow cichlid.

or:

2x oscars,
1x female firemouth,
2x chocolate cichlid,
2x common plecs.

what 1 will be the best?

I have no idea what you're talking about..

you say all they need is 20g then you name all these fish that get enormous that you say can be kept with them...

what size tank do you have and what are the current fish you have.

20g is definitely too small to start, and some of the fish you listed could easily be decimated by jewel cichlids.

as much as you will hate me saying this, and argue you will need a huge tank for those fish! 2 oscars alone will need at least 4 by 2 by 1 alone. sorry to be the bearer of bad news. good luck!!

true about the oscars needing that space they do grow huge but i would say jewels would be ok with any of those i have 3 jewels 2 male 1 female kept with a pair of firemouths a pair of convicts 4 angels and a pair of clown loach and loads of convict babies all in a jewel rio 400 and none of the fish go any where near the convict babies as anyone who has kept convicts would know this

I had mine with cummunity fish in a 30 gallon for about 3 years untill I got my 55. He has no mean bone in his body. I have mine with 10 mbunas, 1 pleco, 1 Jack Dempsey.

It really depends on what type of Jewel you get. I have had bought 5 jewels total in the past 4 years and all but one died within a year after purchasing them. All had the same desease, must have been caused by stress from transportation or bagging because signs would show right after I put them into the tank or before. I have yet to figure out a cure for it. Its like a cancer.

Hey spike i realised earlier that i dont think you have any tanks as you are lying about your setups but i wasnt going to say anything. Why do people do this

If you look here you list your setups and it says you already have a juwel cichlid and the fish are different to the ones you state above
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=174920

And if you look here its from even further back and your setups are completely different again!
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=175636&hl=

and again look here
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=172982&hl=

and heres the last one i can be bothered to post
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=171031&hl=

Spike if you dont have any fish then thats fine you can still be a member of a fish forum. You dont have to try and impress people with setups you dont have.

i do have fish, just i kept going wrong but i found the mistakesand sorted them out. sorry for the confusing of this.

I have a pair of Jewel Cichlids in a 30 gallon setup.
They seem fine and breed frequently.
They can be terrors and wipe out all fish, even twice theirsize.
I would recommend keeping them on their own.

What species of Jewel Cichlid is it?
It is most likely to be Hemichromis guttatus.
These grow relatively large and need a tank of 3-4ft.
Mine however are Hemichromis sp. "Bangui" a rare and
less aggresive species that only grows to 8cm/3".
