hi everyone i hav a pair of jewels which i bought about 2 months ago as a pair at first i had no idea they breed so easily, about 6 weeks ago my daughtr came running to me telling theres babies in the tank behind an ornament i went to look and was shocked to see hundreds of babies from the jewels, well any way that batch got eatn as vrytime i feed the fish the jewels let em and the babies made a runnr loll, 2 weeks after that they laid eggs again but i think they ate them the week after that they laid eggs again so i decided to move the jewels with th eggs in another smallr tank (60 litr) once in the tank they just wouldnt come out kept hiding and didnt look after the eggs 2 days later they ate the eggs again so i moved em back into the main big tank, this sunday 28th dec they laid eggs again i left them in the main tank they seemd to be looking aftr them fine b when i got up this morning tuesday 30th they had eaten the eggs again! im realy frustrated as iv bred livebearers and want to try breeding these jewels, am i doing anything wrong can i do something for them to stop eating the egg? and y do they eat them in the first place? any advice or help i would appreciate tnx

Hi,
I don't know about breeding jewels but normally cichlids eat their eggs due to inexperience after a few rounds they should learn not to.
