I had a really nice surprise this morning when I pulled out half a dozen Jenynsia multidentata fry.

Of all of the species that I have, these have proved the most troublesome over the years and I have had a few unsuccessful attempts in the past. They are particularly difficult to get hold of.

These are one of the one sided livebearers and getting a compatable pair is half of the battle. It is fair to say that I am pretty stoked to have had some success, no matter that it is quite small.

oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh they are so sparkly - they are amazing well done.
i am now realizing how frustrating livebearers can be.

Thats great news not see these in around 10-12 years.

Yeah, they took an awful lot of effort to get hold of but there were a few bags in an auction in the USA which went for around $80-90 per bag. Fortunately I managed to arrange to get some before I left so did not have to break the bank.

This is one of the reasons why I was so pleased to get fry from them. Of course it is pointless keeping less than a pretty good group as they are one sided livebearers and you need 6+ to have a good chance of getting a breeding pair so I wont be in a position to pass any on until I get another few broods.
