I rarely see him but the other night I did - my clown plec is sooooooo fat, he really needs to go on a diet. But.... he shares the bottom level with cories, otos and polka dot loaches. How on earth am I going to cut back but ensure the others are still ok? ???? They have a day off a week and have just had a 4 day fast when I was away.

fasting them a full week never hurts ;)

That can be a problem. My oldest cory is pretty well rounded so I try not to feed the tank too much but I have some young ones too who need to be fed more often. Adult fish can go weeks or even months without food but younger ones are not so easy to fast like that. Try feeding the tank twice a week for a few weeks and don't give them too much food until you see the Clown thinned out some. I think though that most Clowns get a little roundness to them and it's healthy. I don't know what unhealthy would be like though.

Thanks for the advice - I will try your twice weekly feeds Teelie and see how I get on. I would say I'll try and get a pic of him, but it might be next year before get one

Edit: ha, can't believe it - I actually got my first pic of him. He looks like he's about to explode:eek: That cannot be normal.

  Definitely! And he is certainly not constipated (or with an internal bacterial infection) - the mountains of normal looking poo that I am hoovering up all the time can testify to that. I wonder if I should try and catch him (ha - I'm one of life's eternal optimists :hey: ) and put him into the QT for a few weeks - plec boot camp coming up!
