Has anyone had experience with one of these JBL Proflora CO2 Set Vario 500 Profi Set 2

Its seems to be a complete system, bottle, regulator, reactor, soleniod. Do you think its a good price?

Also, how long do you thing a 500gm bottle would last in a 180ltr tank?

I have that exact same setup and am very happy with it - works a treat and is very easy to set up and maintain :) I know that Jimboo though was pulling his hair out with it (though he had the Profi 1 I think) and now has the ADA one.

How long it will lasts depends greatly on your water. But my rough guess is a month - 6 weeks.

Honestly dont bother with it save your self a small fortune and buy all the bits seperatly!

All you need is a reg which will be about £50, bubble counter about £12, tubing about £2, then run the tube into your external canister if you have one so you save on buying a reactor and apart from a gas bottle you are all set! If you wish to get a reactor their only about a tenner anyway.

Just rent the full bottle for about another tenner then when its empty take it back and get another full one for the same price again.

I really dont see the point in all these kits their a complete waste of money in my opinion. All your paying for is a brand name and a fancy bit of packaging.

I have this set along with the PH controller and it works great, no problems at all, PH probe works great just need to check/recalibrate after a few water changes.

I also ran a system put together from seperate parts as suggested by ChrisP. I used a 2Kg bottle from my local reef dealer, £50 deposit and then just the cost of refills, take the empty in, take away a full bottle.

The JBL is a nice set up in my opinion and is the one I'll be using on my new tank over the next couple of months except I'll use my 2Kg bottle instead of the 500g JBL one.

Can't say exactly how long it will last as bloozoo2 says, it will depend on water and number of plants etc.

I have the same set and am very happy with it. in my 126ltr tank it has lasted about 10-12 weeks. You can get it a little cheaper from AQUACADABRA, tel 01322 345242, as advertised in the PFK mag. It's £147.95 with FREE p&p.

I too have the jbl profi 2, and I think it is excellent, although the diffuser is somewhat "inelegant" shall we say, but in my tank it is hidden by a wall of vallis. I've had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever (touch wood) and in my 240L the cylinder lasts about 2 months. I was fortunate enough to secure 5 spare cylinders on ebay for £37 :hyper:. I wouldn't bother with the ph controller though, and be aware it will probably come with a continental 2 pin plug. This is no great shakes though, just run it through a travel plug.
