This is the resin that removes Nitrate through "ion-exchange".

It states that a 170g packet (which is what i got) removes up to 9000mg of nitrate within 24-48 hrs.

As my tank is 450 litres that equates to reducing the nitrate level in my tank by 20mg/l

Initial results seem promising, it has definitly reduced the nitrate. I now need to recharge it in salt water for 24hrs.

My question is.... The instructions state it can be recharged "several times" before it becomes less effective / non-effective. I find this term annoyingly vague (the "several times"), do they mean 3 times, 4 times, 10 times? If they say it can absorb 9000mg nitrate i would hope they would have some more specific idea of when the resin runs out of life.

It cost me £9 for the pack. I don't mind recharging it twice a week to reduce my nitrates (or buy another one to add to it and therefore reduce the frequency of needing to recharge) but i would expect £9 worth of it to last through quite a few re-charges.

Anyone know how much life you can generally get out of this JBL Nitratex?
