In a 30g tank with 1 clown, 1 watchman goby and one pearly jawfish, could I add a blenny? I bought a pearly blenny, only to get home and find it spitting sand everywhere. So I looked it up and found out it's a jawfish. LFS is almost an hour away, so I don't want to return it... plus it's kind of cute, on the rare occasions I get to see it.
I'm just wondering if I can add some kind of real blenny to this. I adore blennies! Thinking of a lawnmower or scooter, but will take suggestions, too.
Thanks for the help!

Meiacanthus (fang blennies) are usually docile. Some of the smaller Escenius are as well. You could add what you suggested as long as you have tons of hair algae (for the lawnmower) or 'pods (for the scooter). Scooter blennies aren't blennies at all but dragonets.

Lawnmower blennies are great

If you get one make sure you see it eating before you buy it

Most will eat anything but some will only eat algae

Don't buy a thin one

Ok, thanks! The guy at the lfs said the ones he had will also eat nori sheets, which I already have. I may have to pick one up this weekend.
I don't have much in the way of pods yet (will they somehow form on their own, or do I need to try to get some from the lfs?) so I'll steer clear of the scooters.
Thanks for the help!

pops turn up in time if you have live rock and not much else that eats em

Personally I wouldn't have a scooter

i would say no to scooter, and make sure you see the fish eat nori or whatever in the store, dont just take the employees word.

Will do... thanks!
By the way, I guess it's from the jawfish stirring up the sand, but tonight I found all kinds of little white things crawling all over the glass. Some really tiny, some a little larger and some that looked like itty-bitty, teeny-tiny starfish! I'm so excited!!!
(I know, I know... I have some sort of illness no doubt. :hyper: )
If the lawnmowers don't eat in front of me, is there another blenny you would suggest that is fairly common and non-aggressive?
Thanks!

Well I happened by the lfs last night and they had a nice, full-bellied, healthy LM blenny, so I brought him home. He is so awesome! He eats the nori sheets, but (so far) only if after they break apart and start floating around. I've also seen him graze on some algae on the back glass. He is so pretty, too! There is a reddish coloration in him down his back and on his tail, and then the little blue dots on top of all of that... very pretty! I'll try to get a picture of him soon.
Thanks for the help!
