I tied some windelov fern to a peice of mopani wood ~5 weeks ago. I don't want to remove the thread unless I know they are firmly attached to the wood with their own roots but I can't tell if they have done this yet, not sure if there are any obvious signs to check?

Mine gripped after a week or two, but since I am using cotton threads, I dont bother taking them out because they'll decompose after a while.
Im lazy in that way

In terms of checking, I have no idea... Pull on it gently? Poke it with a stick?

I swished it in water. When it got where the roots didn't move I removed the thread. Mine took about 1 1/2 months to stick. I had several on one piece though. Some did stick a lot sooner though.
