As I have money burning a hole in my pocket and a crappity tank. So, as I'm pretty bad at plants/aquascaping, I thought it would be a good idea to try one of the ready made plant packages from Java Plants. The package for my tank consists of-
FOREGROUND
5 Red Ivy
5 Bacopa Monnieri
5 Red Water Rose
5 Ech Tenellus
BACKGROUND
5 Hygro Polysperma
5 Vallis Torta
5 Elodea Densa
MIDGROUND
5 Hair Grass
5 Red Ludwigia
5 Red Ambulia
5 Rotala Macrandra

So, does it sound OK, what kind of look would it give, anything special etc. Oh yeah, tank specs. 24x15x12, no CO2 or fertilizers as yet but obviously I'd add it if it was planted more. Lighting I need to check out, I'd imagine at least one WPG but I'll have to get the screwdriver out later. Also, I really want some riccia. Is it worth getting some from here, where its £5.25 for one plant, which TBH is a bit of a ripoff as most people's on here grows really fast.

I have ordered from them
it took two weeks for them to arrive
and I had no communication from them .

the plants were all healthy on arrival

I'm not massively bothered about how long they take, they come from Sinagapore I think, then are held there for a bit then posted. I might try it, its 'only' £10 ish, so if I hide a bit of money elsewhere to be found later, not only do I have a nice suprise but some cash to fall back on :D

I ordered from Java a while ago now. The order never turned up, neither did the supposed re-sent order. Never again.

Have you looked at Greenline or Urmston?

There are often some on Ebay too.

I've ordered from Java a couple of times and haven't experienced any problems.

The package you have chosen is great value for money. Unfortunately, you will struggle to grow some of the plants if your lighting is only 1 WPG. Rotala Macrandra in particular, grows better with high light. The same can be said for the riccia you seek.

Good luck!

hi,

I ordered the biggest pack of plants they do with the extra plants of their choice bit. I would say a quarter of the plants were not aquatic, luckily i knew most of the suspect plants and placed them at the front where i could watch them rot. The red water rose and green water rose lasted about 6 days. Also they sent loads of the same kinds of plants as 'substitue' so i got loads of vals and stuff but i didn't get the ech tennelus which i really wanted or quite a few others. On the plus side they were delivered in a week and were well wrapped. They didn't provide even half the amount of plant weights that i needed though.

I wouldn't order from them again. I have heard good things said about greenline aquatics can anyone confirm?

OK, jave plants is a no then :/ . I'll have to wait until I come back to order anything, I'm off to Italy on Monday so won't be able to get anything before then.

Simple answer to this one.

Use Greenline.

Andy is a great help, he will always call you if there is a problem with your order, and will ask you about your prefered substitutes. He has a huge list of plants, all mine have been in fantastic condition. I have lost a few through poor choice for my water conditions however. You are better to email him with your specific requirements, and he will always tell you whats a no-no for your tank.

Good value, and they always arrive inside the week if you follow the suggested ordering times.

Nuff said. :ninja:
