Java Moss

i cant seem to find any Hemianthus callitrichoides or HC in my local lfs's. will java moss do the same thing? i want a carpet max 1-2 inches thick

In a word... no. Java moss has should be attached to wood or rock to make a 'carpet', whereas you can plant HC in the subsrate. In my opinion it can never look as good as HC.
