my java moss doesnt seem to be growing. i have attached it to some bogwood, which is under a 15w light, but it doesnt seem to be growing. i thought it took about 2 weeks before it started to grow and attach, this has been in the tank longer. can anyone help and tell me the best conditions to grow java moss in ?

You say you have 15w but over how many gallon, over 5G that's 3 WPG but over say 100G that's not much. Regardless, I have Java Moss in about 2WPG, and it took a bit before it really started to attach even then it's a slow creeper in my experience. I have had mine for easily for a few months now and although it's attached and much bushier it has not spread through the entire wood yet. Patience.

Tell us your tank specs so we can better help you.

Ahh humbug not this blasted wpg rule again. It's old and outdated, the marine blokes dropped it long ago and I can see why. :)

With Java Moss, light is very rarely the limiting factor on growth anyway. The old rule, "if you can see it, it will grow" applies well to it. More importantly are what other plants are in the tank, what substrate your using, what fish you have and how long it's been in the tank, as it is a very slow grower and so you may just not notice it growing.

Thanks,
Chris
