Java Moss And Ricca- Same Question

im new at planted tanks so forgive this basic question. i have java moss tied down to 3 small pieces of slate and ricca tied to a piece of bog wood. will they ever anchor to the point where i can untie them?

dunno about the java moss, but the riccia will not anchor.

Java moss should anchor within a couple of weeks. Won't be too strong on slate though, I've found it anchors to soft peices of wood a lot better and is easily (and sometimes accidentally) pulled away from a rock.

Normally you would tie the moss to the wood (spread it thinly across the wood,dont tie it in to a thick a clump otherwise it grows up and out and not along the wood), use black or brown cotton and just leave it, the cotton will rot away over time, the more you trim the moss the more refined and lush the moss will be.

Tie the riccia to your slate or stone with hair nets or fine fishing line, you can either trim the riccia or when it trears away from the rock you can start over again.
