If you like it, great. If not, even better, please let me know why. I'm hoping to enter it in some aquascaping contests (AGA, ADA) next year all being well. The more constructive criticism the better. Thanks for looking.

That is incredible, good job!

Any plans for any more fish or variation in plant? I'm in no way saying you should, just guessing what you're planning to have as an end result :D

Thanks Fella.

Future plans revolve around planting. Possibly switching from the Sagittaria to a smaller leafed plant to create a better impression of size and contrast with the Java fern leaves. Fish will remain (there's a Discus in there too - controversially).

Haha, the discus police will be round soon.

It looks incredible though, is that Tahitian Moon sand? I've got that in the goldie 45g and I sometimes think it's a bit of a waste because they dirty it so much...

I've already had a few knocks at the door - no evidence though  Seriously though, if you're interested then read through my planted tank journal (if you have a spare few hours!) - then you'll know the full story.

The substrate is mainly 1-3mm black quartz with a base layer of Dennerle Deponit and substrate heating.

I've just read the whole thing and it's incredible. It has however, encouraged me to stick to sand, simple plants, plastic plants, and rocks.

Digweed does look superb though, and the cardinals too.

Stunning though. One day when I get the time (and money!) I might set about something the same :)

critique ..........Too green  ..............no , it's very nice

It's awesome , is that a background film or have you painted it ?

I hope you don't plan on entering it like that...

The front of the tank has nice low plants, as does the entire floor of the tank(plain). Beautiful.

The large plant in the rear is astonishing, but what is to the left and right of it? NOTHING! Cmon get some wood or rock in there. Imo its just way tooo un-original.

gf your articles are my bibles :)

Its a very nice lush green, I wish mine was like that, I tyhink it works well with the dark surroundings too. Top stuff

However, I think it would look better if you had a tall, 'thin' plant (as in not as bushy as the others) in the right hand corner at the back. Just a suggestion.

I like the concept. It is almost stark, but in a good way. What kind of look are you going for? I like more color variety, but you're probably going New York chic, while my tanks tend to be country-bumpkin. So if you want NY chic, ya got it. I think it looks very, very elegant. But, IMO, the main fault lies in that I can see objects reflected or throught the glass, which IMO detracts from the stark black background and walls that I think you may be going for? If you can get the back and walls totally black, and not be able to see things through it, you will have a winner, but I am spending too much time trying to figure out what is behind the tank and it is distracting me.

Now, I like the lack of variation, and the foreground plant is unusual rather than the grass everybody else seems to grow. But this is just my opinion. It looks lovely and is a beautiful showcase for the species you're keeping. This setup also looks easier to maintain that other tanks.

Looks great. I am partial to driftwood though. I think a nice center piece (yes I know the rule about it being off center to keep your eyes from focusing or something like that) would look great. I love my piece of driftwood although I've had to do quite a bit of pruning lately as my plants are about to cover it up. I also agree with BLASK though that it needs something in one of the corners. I think one open corner looks great and gives the fish a more open area to swim in. Sounds like you have plenty of time to get it exactly the way you want it.

One of the LFS near where I work has a guy that enters all sorts of competitions. they always have 2 to 4 show tanks set in there that look unbelievable. They are all for sale, everything included and they bring it out and set it up. But they are EXPENSIVE. The 75 gallon they had last week was about $3500.

The thin spirally plant around the big green one at the back...kinda to the left looking at the tank, it kinda looks out of place. And yeah, some rocks or driftwood would look good in there ;)

Yah...like I would ever need to criticise gfs tanks.....BUT....just my thoughts

Awesome as always gf

If that were my tank, I wouldnt touch it! But if you want any suggestions, I thought maybe you could put a rock in the right corner and cover it with some riccia. Or in the same corner instead of a rock, you put a piece of drift wood going up out of the substrate and going back in, and make sortof a riccia bridge.... Maybe give it some sort of mossy root look... But i like the way you have it now, its so simple and its just amazing. I just suggested those ideas to make you maybe think of another idea, but seriously if that were my tank, i wouldnt touch it.
