These are now a bit more affordable for me, so I am looking to get a lot of them for my 45 gallon.

The one I had did well in my incandescently-lighted 5 gallon, so I was hoping to add some to my fluorescent 45. The bulb in the hood now is a very old bulb from God knows when, since I cannot find decent replacements, so I was wondering if the ferns would still do ok in this tank, seeing as how they did well with incandescent lights.

Also, I know that these plants do best when rubber-banded onto ornaments, but I do not have many ornaments that's be big enough or that I plan on keeping for much longer, so would burrowing them in the gravel or perhaps weighing them down be a good option?

JIC someone asks, no plant-eating fish, though I read very few if any fish'll go after these plants.

as long as you do not bury them they will survive on almost anything. I've got about 4 of them stuck to a piece of driftwood. I just stuck them in the cracks.

As for the lighting needs?

I'll probably be able to get decorations in a month or so. Not sure abotu driftwood, since it generally seems rather expensive, and no lfs around here carry it. Same thing goes with natural-looking rocks.

Yeah, I know about the oldness thing. And the holes in my pocket are searing my skin. >.< I don't have the 60-100 dollars needed to replace the hood/ light reflector... thing.

We generally have fluorescent shoplights on in the living room throughout the entire day, which I am thinking is what kept the fern I had alive. But I have enough money saved up for the hood, a camera, sand, fry foods, and plants... probably. But that would mean no money for things needed to sustain life, but who needs those, right? :p
