hi,

I have a java fern attached to some bogwood but i want to transfer to new tank but in old i have sanils and they have laid eggs on it and i dont want to end up with snails in new tank, can i trim down fern to lose eggs and will the fern survive if i do trim leaves ?

Hi Chriso,

All you have to do is seperate the Java fern into two pieces by cutting the rhizone/stem with scissors.
You can then attach it to a piece of bogwood using cotton, fine twine or fishing line. If you meant Java Moss - just separate this by pulling it apart with your hands, rather than using scissors.
If you do end up wuth snails in your other tank, you can either: remove them manually, crush them against the glass for your fish to eat, or buy a small dorad catfish - Amblydoras hancockii or Agamyxis Pectinifrons - both species will eradicate any snails in the tank :drool:
