Why can I not keep my Java Ferns alive EVER?
It's meant to be one of the easiest plants to keep, I get them all big and green and healthy and within a few weeks it's going brown then dies.
Any ideas?

it may be grown emersed, nutrients and/ or CO2 may be limiting.

I find microsorum pteropus "narrow" easier than the regular java fern. Much nicer looking & quicker growth too.

Mine have some brown on the leaves and have had it since I bought them. The worst of which is this one:

What do I do? The other ferns have less brown on the leaves than this one but still some, and as far as I can tell it hasn't changed in appearance since I bought them. I'm dosing 5ml of TetraMin every week now in my 95 litre tank.

I don't want to hijack this thread, I just feel I have a very similar situation and perhaps this will make the solution come quicker for both of us.

I got some cracking narrow Microsorum from my local Maidenhead.

Do you have any other plants? If so how are they doing?

My other plants do ok but I just can't keep java fern healthy :/
Pick off the worst of the browning leaves and new ones will grow through. As new ones grow, pick off the remaining brown leaves and new ones will take their place.

I did this and now my Java ferns are looking much healthier.
