Java Fern

hello,
my java fern is planted in the gravel/sand at the moment! my question being, is it better off tied to a piece of slate or bogwood as im sure i read this on a post somewhere. mine does ok but wonder if it would grow better done this way? at the moment i have a slate cave it could be tied to but could always get some wood if it would benifit from this.

Java ferns don't like their roots choked by gravel or sand. You will get more from your plant if tied to some tuffa rock or bog wood. And tie it with cotton and not fishing line!! By the time the java fern has got a good hold of the wood/rock the cotton will have rotten away.
