**1) Basic care for java ferns

2) How much do they usually cost? (going to petsmart)

3) Would the tank need a filter?

4) Would one or two java ferns be ok in a 3 gallon tank?

5) Do they grow tall, if so can you just cut them

thanks!

1) tie them to wood or a rock, or if you can, bury the roots in the substrate, but leave the rhizome sittingon the substrate,

2) depends greatly. Fpr tropica it could be £6, for a basic suppler it could be £1

3) yes for the fauna, but any ammonia produced could trigger an algae outbreak, so unless the tank is full of fast growing plants, you will need one.

4) 2 would be fine, however it depends on the size at the shop. You want 2 decent bushes.

5) just cut the leaves off at the base

Thanks! Youve been a BIG help with BOTH questions! Ive decided to get real plants and to get an external filter, i found an aqua clear power filter by hagen for mini takns! Not sure if its a good one but dont want to endanger the fish to the ammonia
