Hi there,

I've just added Java Fern to driftwood in my tank. It looks awesome, although I'm a little worried it will die. I wish I had a photo because it would be easier to explain. I haven't attached the Java Fern ontop of the driftwood like I imagine most people would. I have attached the java fern to the end of my piece of driftwood using fishing line. The drifwood base extends past the roof by about 2cm. That's where I have attached it. It's at the end, but it's actually sitting in the wood. SOME of the roots are touching the wood but they are not being held against the wood. The majority of the roots are hanging free about 5-10mm above the base of the wood. Is it likely that nature will take its course and the roots will find some way of attaching? For arguements sake, if the roots are just hanging in water but without attachment, does the plant still survive?

The fishing line was more to hold it in place and upright.

Thank you

Don

Edit: Some roots appear to be 2-3cm from the base. They are free hanging in the water.

it will live just give it time to attach itself it may take some time for it to attach but it will be ok.
