Jarring Size?

Hey Folks

In the past I have always jarred off the male fry into 3 litre jars (0.8 US gallons or 0.66 UK gallons), and kept the females in large sorority tanks. I am thinking of jarring off both male and female fry next spawn when they start flaring and fighting to minimise injury etc. - whats the recommended size for fry jars and what size do ye reckon is minimum?

i use containers that r 4 x 4 x 8in not sure of the volume though

^^ I think those are somewhere near ~70 oz completely filled...which I assume you don't, so they're probably in a bit less than 1/2 gallon. I'm just going to use qt. size mason jars until I get a barracks system going.

1/2 to 1 litre containers can be used. Then you just change the water each day.

That's a lot of little containers to change every day! I bet they're worth it, though, huh? Where would you even keep so many little containers??

It's not that bad to replace all that water, just get 2 5 gal. buckets, one empty and one with freshly treated water. So just dump the jar through a net into the empty bucket, refill the jar from the new water bucket and place the betta in his jar, simple as that.

you know my husband thinks I am crazy, but I have about 850 jars or so sitting in boxs stored in the laundry room, from mason jars to 1/2 gallons....if only he knew what my plans for them are..hahahahahaha

my husband does not drink...at all, but if he did I might be inclined to keep those bottles too.

for instance....what if in one spawn I get 500 babies or more...and most of them turn out to be males

if you get 500 male fighters and have them in bottles, don't have a beer party

my insane keeping of the jars is just my hope for the best but prepare for the worst mindset
