I am coming to the conclusion that my jaguars are about to spawn.

The female is looking very plump, and tshe is being aggressive as with the male.

I just wanted to know, i have removed MOST fish from the tank except 4 red devils, also, with convict cichlids/zebra cichlids, when females are going to spawn they have something tiny hanging from their vent dont they?

The female jaguar has the same thing, i was wondering if thats an egg depositor or something?

Thanks.

The pair of jaguars arent full grown, the female is about 15cm and male is about 20cm.

The red devils are all 10cm each, Theyre all in a 6ft x2 ft x 2ft tank, is that ok?

By the way the egg depositor thingy, does that mean shes going to lay within a few days?

As soon as those RDs mature there is going to be carnage, you might be lucky and have a pair form so only two have to be removed but if they turn out to all be the same sex then there is high chance you will be left with just one RD alive, that is unless the breeding jags dont tear them all to bits first.

If there is anything such as this?

yes it means she wants to lay eggs.

but theres a 99% rate that the fry wont survive, considering the tank you have :/

the red devils are moving to a 4ft tank for the time being as soon as she has layed.

she wants to lay? the egg depositor isnt as visible now, it was a few hours ago, hmm, the male isnt really interested in her although he is getting aggressive as well.

Will she lay even though he doesnt fertilize? Also, egg depositor = few days to lay?

provided that she has a cave/ a flat rock, something somewhere in the tank to lay her eggs on that she feels safe doing so she will lay eggs. Both of my jags are females and they take turns being the man of the relationship. imagine that lesbian jags but they are lol.
