My Jack Dempsey was out in the crowd not bothering, or being bothered by, anyone. Suddenly he has been hiding and barely comes out to eat. He grabs the food then takes it back to his "home." I left the light on in the tank for a couple days by accident but that was several days ago. I wonder if that could be it. :dunno:

BTW, being so new to aggressive fish i am not possitive if JD's are actually NW or not.

first off yes JDs are New World they come from a large area from Guatamala north along the atlantic coast. and as they get larger they will become more territorial and there for agressive. as for JDs being skittish that is just part of their MO they are not really the personable fish that everyone thinks that they are, though mine is the exception to that rule for some reason he is very personable and loves to eat from my hand, another thing to think of is when the last water change to the tank was, alot of time adding fresh water will help make the fish more active though they also hide for a bit during it, and yes leaving the light on or off for a while can contribute to it.
