Hi I have a 90 gal. tank with 2 3.5" Oscars and 1 3" JD. Problem is the JD won't quit chasing the Oscars, the Oscars where in the tank first. I've tried feeding them less food at feeding time no difference, went back to more food at feeding still no better. Thinking about another tank for the JD what would be a good tank mate? want somthing colorful if possible. Thanks in advance if I forget.

JD's dont really like to be in tanks with other types of fish. They belong in a species only tank.

How long has Jack been in the tank???
About 2 1/2 weeks, when I first put it in the Oscars chased it for about 1-2 minutes, then all was fine for about a week (minor chasing by the Jack) then the last couple of days the Jack has become really aggressive making the Oscars hide quite a bit.

Hmmm, for sure it seems like a power struggle in the tank. IMHO Jack shouldnt be too much of a bully at 3" cause i think theyre still quite immature (if thats the right word) at that size...If i were you, id leave them to it for a while, just let them get on with it for a week or so. I think its because theyre just establishing an order & i think Jack should settle down...

not true about the species only tank, i have a 4 inch JD in a 46g community with large and small fish. most likely is just trying to set its self as the dominant fish.

well thanks for the replys, looks like i'll give it some more time.

If you're looking to curve aggression, try moving tank ornaments around.. it should get the fish focusing on something other then attacking each other...

I have jds with convicts, severums, and parrot cichlids.. tank size will make a difference.. mine aren't really aggressive yet so I don't have problems.. but when they hit 6'' I'm sure it will be a different story.
