I have successfully used Zigs EI in my planted tanks. I have great plant growth, too good. I want to have my tank be a healthy slower growing planted tank. My question is , should I get different plant species to solve the problem? OR should I use different light bulbs, water parameters, etc. to solve my overgrowth problem? Or perhaps just trim more and better?

I don’t know allot regarding plant names yet, I want to learn. I have some large reed or grass like plants that:

1)grow 6-8 feet long
2)each leaf or strand is 0.5cm to 3.0 cm thick.
3)Ive seen them grow 10-15 cm in one day when in “perfect” growing conditions
4)They shoot out may shoots or runners of new plants that grow to mature plants very very quickly
5)these plants take over my tank within a week or two.

I also have a small plant of wisteria in there that I trimmed heavily to get out some eggs, it is very small.

I have 3 sword plants , don’t know the species, they started pretty small from the store and now are about 14” high. They look great but are getting a bit choked out by all the “large reed or grass like plants” that are in the tank in massive amounts.

Temp = 24.8 C , 55gallon, Ph 7.1, Co2 15-23, nitrate 7-12, gh 180, kh 85-95, amm & nitri not detectable, CO2 via 2x(2L bottle with nutrafin ladder), rena xp3, 4wpg on heavily planted side, 2wpg on lightly planted driftwood side….

Cant help you as i'm still learning, but i'm amazed that you could get 10 - 15cm growth in a day thats amazing :eek:.
Yes, these "reed" like plants I have are amazing. Ive seen a very mature plant shoot out 3 runners in 3 days, these 3 runners became two foot plants within 3-4 days...They seem to "like" the strong current in most of my tank...
