Well Ive done it

Most people start this way... but me?

NO I wait till I have everything perfect to squirrel it all up

My 55 gal is now TOTALLY overstocked because I got some paradise gourami juvies for my 29 gal. The male went to attacking the bottom dwellers so it was search and rescue all night last night.
Now they have the 29 all to themselves and everone else is hanging out in the 55. Its only overstocked by about 8" (give or take depending on the "rule" you prefer) but it is also overfiltered so I'm hoping everyone can hang in there for a couple of days.

But now I have to buy a new tank

SIGH

NEXT TIME SOMONE OFFERS ME FREE FISH SOMEONE SLAP ME BEFORE I SAY "YES"

Sorry to hear. Well, just keep the tanks really clean, overstocking won't kill your fish if you do water changes often.

I hate it when you make newbie mistakes.... I thought my tank was cycled but added a few too many fish at once... and ended with a nitrite spike.... Shtupid filter...

OK I've added it up... 58" of fish in my 55 gal :grr:

I HATE how it looks so crowded!!!

I'm leaving the gouramis in the 29 and am just going to let them be there ... they get to 5" each so that should be about right ... there is one male and 4 females which, I believe, will prevent fights.. This is also the planted tank.

I'm not sure how I'm going to arrange the rest yet but we have this great free ad paper here that always has tanks for sale dirt cheap. I'll just have to get ANOTHER ONE

I'd LOVE to put a 30 or 40 gal in the living room with the tetras and corys but my husband is like "NO WAY"

If the tank is overfiltered and you keep an eye on the nitrates then those 3" will certainly not matter on the life of the fishes in there. A lot of my tanks are overstocked ont he inch per gallon rule but I run sumps and the like so can bend that rule quite well.

However, if it means you'll get a new tank then that's always good B)

Chill out, it could be far worse.
