Well, I just didn't have time to get a separate tank set up... I got the 10 gallons, and cycled it for 48hrs, but water tests showed it just wasn't ready for me to put her in... I knew she'd get too stressed out in that water.

I tested her water in the tank she's already in... and everything registered really good.. the nitrites need to be brought down a bit (though they're still in the acceptable range...) so I figured I'd try to use the breeder trap.

Bought a breeder trap... took one look at it once it was put together, and threw it out. I can't put her in such a tiny little box poorly ventilated with no swimming room.

So I decided, this time around I'm going to let nature take it's course and let her have her babies in the tank as is. I went to the pet store and bought out their live plant stock. (They just started selling fish a few months ago, so they don't have a lot of stuff yet... but I couldn't wait the 2 days it would take with ordering from Drs Foster and Smith.) So I bought what they had in plants, bought some plant food, bought the proper light for my large tank (they don't have it for my betta tank yet, they had to order one.)

I planted all the plants, fed them, and I'm hoping it's enough for the fry to hide in. hopefully if this happens again, my 10 gallon will be cycled enough to be a proper nursery. So what happens happens I guess. I'm hoping I'll come out with at least a few surviving fry... but if I don't... lesson learned for next time. :/

not to be rude or anthing but it is impossible to cycle a tank in 48hrs try 48 days,i have found that pregnant mollys are very sensitive to un cycled tanks when they are close to a drop, don't get me wrong they are also likely to die in a un cycled tank even with out being pregnant.

But i am glad to here that you are properly cycling the 10 gallon nersery tank sound like a wonderful idea to me but what you could have done with the fry is catch them and put them in the breeding trap......thats an option if you still have it i would keep it in case say a fish gets white spots on it and you need to post a pic up on the fourm so you can get help then that allows you to get a better close up of the fish well i wish you the best of luck :good: :good:

depending on how many she has, I'm going to catch a few and put them into the nursery trap, and catch a few others and put them into a 1 gallon tank I had cycling for about 7 days now. The water conditions are perfect and I'll let them in there until they go through their first major growth spurt.
