what would be a good fish (for my first attempt) to breed ive currently got guppie fry and am expecting mollie and sword tail fry any week now but i really want to have egg layer fry advise on good breeders please

thanks

Most egg laying fish i can think of need to be separated from their eggs after they have layed and fertilised them to prevent them from eating them, personally i wouldn't buy anymore fish until you have raised your current fry and found them suitabe homes, at least that will then free up your fry tank.

at least that will then free up your fry tank.
thats the great thing am off to buy another fry tank the weekend B)

The other reason why i think you should finish off raising your livebearer fry is because egg laying fish fry dont tend to be so hardy in general, if you can raise livebearer fry succesfully at least you know you have the ability and probably enough experience to raise egg layer fish fry. To be honest though i dont see much point in breeding any random fish for the sake of breeding it- do you know if your lfs can take your livebearer fry off your hands when they are big enough yet :) ?

Hi smurfy :)

Corydoras catfish are a good choice to begin with. Their eggs and fry are not quite as small as some and this is a big advantage to a beginner.

I would particularly recommend bronze or albino C. aeneus. :D

i think ill have a wander to the fs in a bit at have a look for these Corydoras catfish
