I was just looking on the internet, when i came accross some fish that im thinking could be quite good...
Ive had an idea for stocking my 32G, and it is:
-2x Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid (Pair)
-2x German Blue Ram (Pair)
-1x Keyhole Cichlid
-6x Cardinal Tetra
-4x Sterba Cory

I dont really see why that wouldnt/couldnt work, because they are all fairly peaceful fish, and can be kept in community set-ups...and none get too large...

What do you think???

Mikey

Looks ok. But i would swap the Keyhole for some more tetras or something.
Sterbia are lovely i bought some recently. Usually sell for £15 each but this place had one for £5.75 and i got 5 for £20 because the guy there is cool. It was Wharf aquatics.

Why would you swap the keyhole?

IME keyholes are better kept in a group - not singly.

You may have problems with the cories if both cichlid pairs breed as they'll be chased around and harassed. Increasing the size of their group would help and then I'd also get more tetras and skip the keyhole altogether.

Well id really like a "centre-piece" single fish in there, something thats a little bigger than the others or very colourful and stands out, but if it wouldnt work, then i wouldnt do it....
Im thinking of not getting the sterba corys, because they cost quite alot, so if i did have corys, then i would get peppered or bronze...
I could maybe add a another pair, say gold rams or something?

Mikey

EDIT: What about an angel?

I wouldnt have 3 pairs in a 30" tank.
Hhhmm, an Angel. All ive heard is that Angels and dwarf cichlids like rams just dont get on. But thats all ive heard, someone might actually have experience into the matter. Remeber though, all cichlids have their own little personality so not alot can be predicted.

Ok, do you know of any other peaceful fish that can be kept singaly and arent aggressive?
I would remove the corys if needed?

Mikey

Cockatoos should be kept in groups, say one male to 4 females. I think I would only pick one cichlid for the tank, but I think rams and apistos would be ok provided they have plenty of caves.

I have a tonne of rocks, and some bogwood etc.
i have some terracotta pots too so they would have lots of places to hide...
