Hi guys,

Just wondering, ive got a few plants in my tank and I am wondering, do you take them out of the lil terracotta pots or sink them into the gravel?

Do they need aquarium soil?

I used to take them out of the terracota pots and push them into the sand substratt but did have a problem at first keeping them there, i now leave then in the little pot and personally think it looks better.

i did have a plant substrait at first but after a major overhaul couldnt afford to put it back, i have not noticed any difference in the survival of plants so long as you do keep feeding then once a week.

you can leave them in the pots or plant them in the gravel. Check to see if they have paper in the pots. If so remove the paper and repot the plants in some gravel. The paper causes the roots to rot.
One advantage of leaving the plants in pots is you can move the pots around and redecorate without damaging the roots. However, most pots from the LFS are too small and the plants should be put into bigger containers with more room for their roots.

Hi
I take them out the pots and then use the pots to make little features around the tanks. Lying them on their sides slightly buried, the fish love em.
Make sure there are no rough bits around the bottom hole though?

Cheers
