I've Got Him! [with A Bad Quality Pic!]

I apologize for the quality of this picture, It was taken with a webcam. (I couldnt find my proper camera) I don't know if it's just me, because I've seen the fish up close but there is black colouring along tatty areas of the fins.

I read that fin rot appears as either white or red. It didnt mention black, but I'm not ruling it out until I get your answers  He doesn't seem to bothered by it, he's still pacing about and taking notice of me when I get close to the tank or walk by it. Hes actually watching me riiiiggghhtt now. Now that the filters calmed down and doesnt create so much water disturbance he seems alot happier.

Oh one other thing. I couldnt get a clear enough picture but theres two lighter horizontal lines (one on each side) of his body and they seem to be in the same place on both sides. They seem to have faded slightly from what they were the other day but I wondered if they were Stress lines or just scales being reflecting the light? [I understand if you can't help without a picture.]
Sorry again for the quality. I just wanted to know if it actually was fin rot.
:good:

Fin rot can be black too. Hard to decide on a fish of a dark colour whether it is funny coloured regrowth or fin rot! Just keep your water as clean as possible for a few days and see how he is - if it changes or gets worse then get some fin rot meds in there!
I can't remember which way stress lines are on bettas - horizontal or vertical! But it sounds to me like they could be stress lines, especially if they are fading now he is not getting battered by the current!
