Im cycling my tank with fish (10 moon tetras). Its going very well my ammonia has gone and the nitrite has peaked. Over about the last 5 days my tank has got green / brown splodges of algea + greenish water (Since I added the nutrafin Iron Suppliment). My mopani has developed a green layer over it, the plants are looking fairly sad aswell. Among the plants ive got a moss ball, im not entirely sure its java moss, it may be my problem.

Today ive done a %50 water change just to sort out the colour of the water.

what should I do to sort this organic imbalance out in my tank? Is it just a case of waiting it out till the end of the cycle?

I'm fairly sure the green water will be an algae bloom. Single celled free floating algae which is caused when you have too many nutrients in the water and too much light.

There are a few solutions:

Cut down on the nutrients in the water

Cut down the light

Use a UV steriliser

Use a green water clearing chemical that will make the algae stick together so your filter can remove it

I've also heard that daphnia will eat free floating algae

1 having 10 tetras in the tank at this stage is never a kind thing.

You could do the following.
1. Change the water daily (as you should be already DAILY)
2. Make sure the tank is not near a window and that the tank does not spend most of the day in the sunlight.
3. Buy algae eaters.
4. a UV light could work for you being that it only supplied Voilet light in high doeses means a full light range is drown and a plant dies.
5. Frequent tank scrapings can create short term visability ... remember algae never gives up you will get tired of scrapping it long before it becomes tired of growing if no action is taken.
