Ayup! :D So, tuther day I noticed 2 - 3 of my bronze Corydora frantically messing around within the Sag or vas (i'm not sure what it is!) that I have planted thickly along the back of the tank. And on closer inspection I could see that they were eating some white eggs that had been scattered on the back glass  . I was really happy to see eggs for the first time in my tank!

Needless to say, the next day they had all gone (eaten). Just today I have found a few stuck to the leaf of another plant (don't know the name of this plant either I'm afraid  ). Now, I'm in no position at the moment to consider raising these eggs and I am just content in the knowledge that my fish are clearly quite happy :) Could someone please confirm that they are Cory eggs? And also, why would they be breeding all of a sudden? Have 2 of them just become 'that age' where they do? I've heard it is a cold water change that brings on such behaviour however I hadn't done one...?

Thanks

Yeah i would say there definitely cory eggs. What else is in the tank? If you want to save any its best to remove them.

Cool thanks! :good: I also have:

2 x Ottos
3 x Colombian Red Fin Tetra

( And, 1 x Zebra Danio, 1 x Dwarf Gourami, 1 x Bolivian Ram - Obviously can't be any of these lol...)

I wouldn't know where to start in terms of raising them, although I'd love too :/

I was meaning more they will eat the eggs rather than trying to work out whose eggs they are.
all of them fish will eat the eggs plus the corys them self so if you want to save them i would move them quick.

ah I see! :hey: I have another small tank however it just needs a heater. Also, I'd have to get a sponge filter right? As I think they'd get sucked up a normal internal..? I doubt I'll get set-up in time to raise these eggs but now I know that I have some breeding I think I'll give it a go!

I just put the filter in one of my nets in my fry tank, was quite small though. Good luck in raising when you do :good:

Another night later and the three eggs are still there on the leaf! What are the chances of these hatching and surviving? There is some Java moss on the bottom of my tank - would they hide themselves in there? Would the corys eat the fry? Mind you if they dont then the B Ram will :/

fairly sure they will become fish food if you dont remove them, youll find that you will have lots more soon!!

earlier this year i had about 5 batchs of eggs and done well with them.

best thing i would sugest is get down your lfs and get a little nursery net,i used a plastic framed one with a shaped net, place it near the outlet flow of your filter so theres nice water movement going through net but not full force, use a CLEAN stanley blade and gently scoup the eggs off and drop them into the net.next step sit back and wait then after about a week youll see movement in net so small you will think your seeing things!

for food i just rubbed tetra flake realy hard into net and kept them in net until they were a fair size.

best of luck and enjoy as its a good feeling and a good sign that fish are happy and water conditions are good.

with money being a bit tight this week (ive yet to get xmas pressies lol)
i might try just using my fish catching net. ill just cut that part of the leaf off and leave them on it until they hatch inside the net... i have a spray bar so will keep then around the top in the net and also my other fish shouldnt get caught in it... how long until they hatch??

Heres a few pics of my quick temp setup. Fingers crossed I get to raise some lil babies :D

Here you can see the leaf lay within the length of the net. Will the leaf pose a threat as it rots? I intend to remove it as soon as I see the eggs have hatched, however long that is?

View from above. Luckily the frame of the net sits against the underside of the feeding hatch within the lid.

These two show how it looks overall..

cool :good: soon as im paid end of th month i'll grab a heater and small sponge filter for my 18 litre container ive got. i have some brine shrimp sticks from TA agriculture so im thinkin of grinding them down to a powder for feed! exciting! :D

just got home from work and................... THEY'VE HATCHED!!! Three healthy cory fry :D i'll post some pics after iv had me tea!

Congratulations!

Make sure these little beautys get well fed for optimum growth. If you find flake powder does not work, try some live baby brineshrimp.

Good Luck!

James.
