I've Done The Swap :)

Yes I did up the feeding a little, adding an extra pellet or a bloodworm each day. I've only swapped them the one time and left them for now. The 3 gall bowl doesn't fit in the tank. It was well planted, but despite daily doses of TPN+ and easy carbo, they're going downhill fast :( There's still quite a bit in there.
The filter is a built in trickle one in the hood. I have it filled right up to the top so the waterfall back in is as gentle as possible. In his original tank the filter was an internal canister one with sponge baffle so almost no flow.
The problem with heating the bowl is that because it's curved, normal sized heaters don't physically fit. The newattino was the only one that did, but it was 10w and wasn't up to the task where the bowl was at work.
There's IAL in there and I'm dosing a little melafix a couple of times a week too.
My latest thought is that I might move the tank from downstairs and put them next to each other in the bedroom. That way they can watch each other, but I can easily put something between them if it doesn't work out. I'd need a new extension lead for that though and I ain't going anywhere until it warms up a bit!

I've had two tailbiters in the past, it can be triggered by anything, even just boredom. My halfmoon bit his one day then let it regrow then bit it off again and thats how he continued, my halfmoon double tail bit his off when he was posted to me and just kept biting after that. There's no garantee they will stop doing it, all you can do is keep the water clean and make sure finrot doesn't set in. Hope they both perk up soon!
