I figure with an insane amount of aquarium sealant, some serious on-hand cash and a lot of free time, a tall, standard gumball machine oculd be an incredible aquarium, like a betta bowl. See, check this one out:

Could you imagine that being one? Just incase anyone here knows anything about gumball machines (which would be a serious stroke of luck, wouldn't it?) Does the top come off? Because if I get some money together, I might buy myself a christmas present...

Thanks, as always. PS

Edit: I got the idea for it from tff, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=164470. Sure, that one if painfully cruel and all, but this one is massive compared to it. I mean no offence, but if you think this is a bad idea (the big gumball machine that is) , let me down easy on it.

They're selling something similar to this in BHS for just £50. Would be difficult to clean the bottom out :p Or catch the betta if you needed to!

I'm no expert on the machines but I'm pretty certain you could rig one up to work as a Betta bowl and stand. Cost efficient it would not be.

Well you can always seal the base and fill it with sand if you're worried about the whole thing being top heavy. Maybe different colored sand in the spiral even. :D It would be cool; reminds me of some company that was taking old diving bell helments and making betta bowls out of them.

The weight probably wouldn't be a problem. Those things are kind of heavy to begin with and most are made solid to withstand the rigors of children.
