Ok, I have changed from gravel to sand. Both tanks are set up now as you can see below but I still have all six puffers in one tank. I’m noticing three of them hanging together so I’m gonna wait and see who gets aggressive with who and try to separate them accordingly. Don’t know if this will work but I’m gonna try. Here are two tanks :)

these are from the original thread a few days ago when I had gravel. I'm still trying to figure out how to work my camera.

yea i really like the look of sand. Planting in it is different. I snapped a few of my plants by accident. Now all my tanks with gravel seem kind of tacky but i'm not taking on the project of switching over any time soon. Though I am excited about getting some black sand next. :) I hope the plants will be ok. I mixed plant clay stuff with gravel in the other tanks which is supposed to hold nutrients and what not for plants. This sand is so clean and the plants wont be getting any fish poo so I don't know how it will go.

I gotta say I absolutely love it! It looks so much better than the gravel you had first as well :) Glad you're liking it yourself as well! Keeping it clean will be more work than gravel, seeing as on gravel it takes a lot longer for you to start seeing it than it does on sand, but its easy to clean and definatly worth it!

Also, young dwarfs tend to hang around in groups, this will stop when they become older. Though, mine still do it during water changes and stuff, probably because of the stress that the hose causes them! I recommend sexing them, and if you're lucky enough to only have 2 males, keep 1 male in each tank.

I ended up losing one of them. Don't know why he died but I found him in the intake hose yesterday. They have been moved around quite a bit in the last few days so hopefully they will settle in happy and healthy. I'm gonna get more plants as soon as my school reimbursement check comes in. So now I have two in one tank that seem to be joined at the hip and three in another.
