I JUST BOUGHT a 90. gallon tank LAST NIGHT, came with 2 large filters, heater, stand, plants, food, most everything except the water  and the fish. But, there is some, *grime* looking stuff coated on it, and also, she painted the back of the tank blue. I don't want the grime on it, and I want to take the paint off the back. before I do anything major, (have already started the LONG process with a rag and a squeege :p )
I want some tips from somebody who has already gotten a used aquarium. I know not to use soap... but she said use bleach! Somebody just give me a tip or two. Thanks! I feel like It's Cristmas!!! :santa:

I would use a scouring pad or something like that with water and as for the paint try a scraper

Agree...white vinegar...great stuff....washes clean without leaving behind toxic chemicals. SH

clear vinigar is good. Just make sure you clean free of the vinigar. It will remove any of the grime of the glass and leave it shiney.

Really? I must have some tough grime,... because white vinegar isn't working. The woman I bought it from says that she's had the tank for 18 years... maybe that's why. how about just hot (VERY HOT) water? would that work? Or would it hurt the sealant on the corners?

they sell cleaners in bottles that are toxin free and ssafe for fish, petsmart usually has it

Use salt with the white vinegar as it is abrasive, just rub it hard with a clean sponge. If you have limescale deposits you may need to soak some kitchen towel in vinegar and leave it over the limescale for 24 hours then it should wipe straight off.

Emma :D
