After 26 days my fishless cycle is pretty much finally complete! Nitrite levels were falling for the last few days from unreadable down to 3.3, then 1.6, and now between 0.1 and 0.3! Now after another day or two this should fall to the magic 0... I hope. Anyways I was hoping some of you guys could just read over my plans of introducing my fish to the tank and advise me accordingly, I know this is usually a relatively simple but mine's complicated by integrating a new group of Zebra Loaches to my current one. Here's what I intend to do...
- Continue cycling until nitrites are constantly at 0.
- Take out my heater from the new tank and leave a few days to drop to room temperature.
- Once tank temperature has been established put the heater in my current tank and adjust temperature to new unheated tank.
- Buy last few plants/ornaments etc.
- Near enough 100% water change.
- Add new group of 4/5 Zebra Loaches and QT in new tank for a week or two.
- Add current fish from my old tank.
- Few days later add the heater to the new tank and increase temperature to 24/25 Celsius.
- Keep this set up for a few weeks before stocking more fish.
My intended stocking is;
- Featherfin catfish
- Syodontis Nigrita
- 5/6 Zebra Loach
- 6 Ruby Barbs
Would this stocking be alright and do you think I could add too it? Was looking towards Angelfish or a small algae eater of some type if I had potential for more stock so would be cool to hear your opinions?
The tank is an aqua one UFO 550 corner tank dimensions of length 78cm, depth 52cm and height 48cm. Sand substrate, live plants, bogwood and decent amount of hiding spots. Cheers in advance.
