Ok I have my now 2nd time mom that gave birth 3 weeks ago saturday....and I know that they can give birth every 3-4 weeks....I was just wondering if I can put her back into the breeding trap 2morrow.....I dont want to stress her out...but i also do not want to lose the fry because they are so pretty when they grow up....She appears to be bigger today than she was yesterday so i am pretty sure it wont be too long...I just want some reassurance as to whether or not i am jumping the gun...Thank you very much

What species is the Mommy? 3 weeks seems a bit short to me. My Swords(2 female) gave birth 33 days apart for one (the larger(Doris) at last birthing) and 43 days apart for the smaller (Fiskis, see my take a guess post). Putting them in a net/trap too soon will cause them a lot of stress. I only have experience with swordtails so if it is a Guppy, Molly or Platy I can not be sure but 3 weeks can mean a few days more. I have been sure the the girls were ready to go soon before and put them in the trap only to have them jump out and still not give birth for more then a week later. I am now keeping a journal so I can time it a bit better. Doris is coming up to 33 days again so I am trying to keep a close watch on her.HTH

Thanks paul...It is a guppy so i do not think that they have the same gestation as a swordtail...Swordtails take a long time in between births....guppys breed like rabbits lol

Thanks for the reply though :D
