once you get rid of the pleco, you can get 4 more harlequins and 3 more neons to make it a school of 6 ea + 3 cories?

...that is only if you have good filteration and keeping up with water changes

EDIT: get rid of the gold barb too, they need to be in groups

The pleco has to go, but you know that already. All of the other fish are schoaling fish and need bigger groups.

I would add 3 harlequins and 2 or 3 neons. I would also get rid of the barb. Others may think that is overstocked, but my hubby had a 10G before we upgraded to a 20G. He moved over 9 neons, 5 harlequins, 3 khuli loaches, 4 frogs and a small gourami. He had them in the 10G for 3 months with no fatalities or illnesses.

In the end it is up to you, but I would really think about getting bigger groups of the fish you already have.

EDIT:

I forgot to add, don't add these fish until the pleco is gone. Have you tried returning him from where you bought him? Or maybe another lfs will take him. Depending on size, they may give you some sort of credit for him. I took my babysitter's 4 4" goldfish and 2 6" plecos in and got $18 in store credit. I also gave them close to $10 worth of goldfish food.
