Itchy Fish

Noticed that my fish have been flicking more than usual. Although there is nothing visable, I'm sure they must have irritated scales to make them do that. They "scratch" themsleves off the sand. Anyone had any experience in a simialr situation? I'm away to do a dip stick test. Not sure that its accurate enough though.

Could be either a parasite or the nitrate is too high. Could be flukes, have you added anything new to the tank recently or used equipment from one tank to another, assuming you have more than one tank. What kind of fish are scratching and are they all doing it or the number of fish scratching increasing?
