Hi all

I have this concern where my tank water evaporates very fast..

It is definitely due to the cooling fan that I fixed on the tank..

It is a 3US Gal shrimp tank and the cooling fan is needed to maintain a temp of 26deg celcius..

What are the issues that I might face due to the fast evaporation rate?

TIA

Evaporation is a way for your tank to cool down. If you block it off with a lid or something then the tank could overheat. Living where I do evaporation is a problem for me too. I usually keep a tub of water around for small top ups if it gets to low between water changes.

When the water evaporates, it is just that, the water evaporates. Whatever was disolved in the water will remain in the tank, thus topping up a tank with the same water will lead to a gradual increase in the concentraction of the disolved minerals. You will need to watch that, and be prepared for frequent water changes.
