I have a 5 gallon tank with a hood. The temperature in our region really get high hence I arranged a fan for my tank and due to which my water gets evaporated, although I timely fill the water everyday to compensate for the lost water. Is there any chance the mineral concentration in my tank is increasing which can harm my fishes?

If you keep topping it up with freshwater and doing weekly water changes it should be fine. The only thing is where the water is going, excess evaporation can cause damage to your house

You could top up with pure water (RO, deionised, even rain water if it's not contaminated by pollution, crop spraying etc). This wouldn't increase the amount of minerals being added to the tank as with tap water.

If you can't use pure water for the top up make sure your weekly changes are substantial. 80% is easy enough in a 5G.
Then at least once a month do 2 big changes in a week.

I agree with essjay and seangee, but it might be useful to know the GH of the water. If tyhis were very low such as mine, using tap water would not cause issues. But if it is high, then minerals do precipitate out of water that evaporates.

A large weekly water change would set things straight.

How warm is this tank? That fact that you must top of EVERY day sounds crazy.

A tight fitting lid can ease some evaporation.

OP is using a fan to keep things cool. They can be quite effective in cooling tanks because they cause evaporation.

Got it. I don't think cooling a tank is something I'd ever experience haha
Never say never. Unfortunately this has been a reality in England (at least in the South) for the last few summers. Thankfully only for 6-8 weeks of the year.

I live in India at the equatorial region it's really hot here, the optimum Temp is around 37°C I have to maintain the temp with fans. There's a lot of evaporation. Thankyou so much guys. I guess I'll use RO water to top-up and weekly huge water changes to deal with this issue.
