Hi :) I have returned after a little absence from the forums. I have a question... not sure I am asking in the right place really to get a balanced answer but....

.... is it wrong that I am considering selling a sofa to get it out my living room and make more space so I can get a new much bigger tank?!?!

The more I say it the more crazy it sounds, buuutttt....... the more crazy it sounds the more I think it is a good idea!

My current 4ft 280l mbuna tank is lovely, but I really want something bigger. I can fit a 5ft tank in where it is now, or get something much larger by selling the sofa!

Wont happen if I can find a cheap second hand one as I cant afford the £1500 for a huge tank. Really want a new project to work on :(

I once helped a guy on here set up an 8 foot x 3 foot x 2 foot reef tank.....all that was left in the living room was two sofas facing the tank with about 4 foot between them and the glass, a 14" portable TV and a bookcase :)

Go for it :good:

Perfectly acceptable to sell the sofa for a bigger tank, not crazy at all. I have got rid of the kitchen table and chairs to make room for 3 tanks in our kitchen diner, removed a two seater sofa for a chair to make room for another tank, sold the 42" screen tv and got a smaller one, so I can fit in another tank. Cleared out all the junk from under the stairs and fitted another tank under the stairs. Hubby has however flatly refused for me to have the downstairs toilet removed so I can get a tank in that space lol lol lol

Hmmm, downstairs toilet..... now you are giving me ideas....... :p
Remove toilet, cut hole in plasterboard, tank flush (oh the pun!) in with the wall beneath the stairs........ ooooh the possibilities!

I'm afraid to say it sounds like you have the early stages of MTS, it can be very uncomfortable, even painful (on the wallet) and very exhausting (when it comes to cleaning them out)....

Its a problem many people on this forum suffer from

Multiple Tank Syndrome!

A little update.....

So after my itchyness I kinda acted on impulse........Well, thought out impulse.....

Tonight I take delivery of my new aquarium..... Its a 60x22x24 (about 535L i think that equates to?) setup - AC Aquatics Custom Built (10mm Glass) on a black ash stand. Rather nice upgrade from my 260L, which after serious consideration I will sell rather than running them both (The sofa is safe. For now!).

I will add some photos as the project develops. Will take a few weeks for the transition whilst I gather enough rocks for the new one.

I just missed out on a 600L 6ft tank on ebay, which went for a snip at £389!!!! I forgot it was ending and was out at the time, i would have paid A LOT more for that, BUT it would have meant the end of the sofa so its not all bad.

might pay to save the old tank in case you need a hospital tank for any reason...thats if you have space to store it ;) Enjoy the new tank.

I have a hospital tank already :D

A 4ft 260L tank is a bit much to keep hold of as a "just in case" due to the size :p

Watch this space..... 2hrs it will be here!! :D
