Is this filter worth buying? It says 1000 litres per hour and suitable for tanks up to 400 litres. My tank is 250 litre. They also do models capable of 1200 and 1400 litres per hour. This looks like a very good price

Sorry the filter in question is this one...

No good for your piranha mate i have the 1000lph and it can just do a 80l tank. Cazz on here has the 2000lph and that only puts 900lph  you really need a high end filter for piranha as there so messy

I agree, my brothers mate keeps Piranha and they are so messy! I'm sure he had a 2000lph and had to upgrade again

I am going to be running the 2000l/hour version on my 300l tank, but dont plan on piranha for it.

Will let you know how I get on if you want though

If your going for a community tank with very light stock of plants you should just about be ok as they hold decent bio loads. If your going to plant out your tank your wasting your money you need a turn over of 6-10 and the 2000 is going to give you 3

also worth mentioning ive seen a few threads here and other places regarding aps filters not lasting 5 minutes .

All the reviews of these filters iv read are positive with people sayin they noticed a significant difference with how clean they got the water compared to the equivalent internal filter. Surely they have to be better than my current interpret pf4? Doesn't really seem to do a lot even wen i was using it with my community setup. Although it is meant to good for my size tank?

is this for the 55g in your sig? if so id go for this

more expensive yes but a brand thats proven over years for its quality . the classics are known to last for years and will outlive most others .

It is for that the tank in my Sig yes. I can't afford one of these filters new unfortunately. I will have to keep an eye out for a second hand one or something similar.

Was looking at a moderate planting, will have to see how it gets on. I was thinking of having an internal filter as a back up running alongside anyway, might have to cut the timescale on it.

I might just buy one and see how it gets on. Don't really want to pay silly prices for a filter with around the same flow rates. As long as its better than my current interpet pf4 internal then il be more than happy :)
