Thanks for taking the time to peek in on this, I'm a little bit worried about something. I know Severums are very peaceful Cichlids (first big tank -- I don't want any trouble, see?) Knowing this, I bought a gold severum, and several weeks later, a (much) smaller green one. I remember reading (might've been on this forum, I have no clue  ) That keeping two together can make this gentle fish much more agressive!! Is this true? They've lived together happily now for.. about the better part of three weeks. I just don't want any agression... I am willing to take one back ( :-( If I have to) to the store from which I bought them both. Will this be a problem?

Pretty much everywhere that I've read says that Severums are much more aggressive when they're with their own kind. Thats why I'm only gonna keep one, I don't really care much about breeding.
Here's where I found it... sorry to grab your post & cut it in half like that dazed :p

LOL, thats okay I was just about to throw my two cents in here anyways! :p

Yeah I'm not an expert or anything but I did massive research online because I was in the same situation as you, didn't want ANY trouble in my tank. I read through alot of people's experiences with Severums and just about everyone that kept two or more together saw aggression between them. Alot of them said that in many cases one would even bully the other to death.

If I were you I'd go with a different tankmate, possibly a Blue Acara........

thought Id let you know that I have 2 green severum and they are fine together.they are a pair though so dont know if that makes a difference? :)

well i have 2 golden severums about 6" now and tehy hate eachvoers guts, i got three of them because when i started my tank teh offer was 3 for £20. they soon grew and they leave the other tank mates alone, but hate eachover and stay away from eachvoer, the bigger one is very agressive p.s. one died of pop eye a few months back :-(
but i hope it helps you to say that tehy dont annoy the otehr fish, they just guard their teritory and such. nice fish though, good luck :)
