Hi guys....

Im currently thinking about having a change around and making room for a african cichlid tank... before i start thinking about that i need to make sure i can make my other tanks right... the plan is to make a community tank in my Rexford 96l by mixing some of my current fish and taking some back to my lfs...

so here goes... im not great at stocking levels and i have the feeling that this is going to be too much but advice would be apreciated.....

5 ottos
5 kuli oaches
7 corys
10 neon tetras
5 lemon tetras
2 honey gouramis
2 dwarf gouramis

?????

The rule of thumb is a inch of fish per gallon of water. In a cichlid tank you do need to over stock it a bit. In order to keep aggression down.

yeah cichlids will get aggressive...depends on what you get...that why i wanted a species tank for them and to create just one community tank...

not quite sure exactly which cichlids i'll get but from what i've been told and read they'll do well in my nasty hard water here in Hull

Hi Hels,

As your tank is only around 25 us gallons you would be overstocked on the inches per gallon rule but as the fish are all smallish and all swim at different levels you should be fine for not overcrowding physically as long as you keep up with regular water changes. The only problem you may have is the pairs of gourami being territorial. you would be better just having one pair in a tank this size unless thay have been living together for a while.

Hope this helps

Emma
