My buddy has a 90G tank with 2 Jaguars, 2 green terrors, 2 jack demseys. Is that to much fish for one tank?

possibly? i know green terrors and jds stay about the same size (and i think are pretty equally agressive). however, if i recall correctly, the jags not only grow larger than the others but are also meaner.

(my rule of thumbs is always "if you think it may be overstocked, then it probably is." ;) )

I wouldnt say that wsa over stocked in general numbers of fish but there are so many aggro fish in that tank.

in my experience, the jags are the meanest fish i've seen. It destroyed my green terror and had to be removed in like a week. this was only in a 60 gallon, but the fish were about 2" a piece. He has 2 of each + other cichlids in a 90 gallon. I think the jags will become a problem.

I would definitely get rid of the jags... and then maybe just see what happens..

If the GTs or JDs are m/f he could end up with eggs.. which means the fish would become even more aggressive.

It's weird , the 3 inch Green Terror owns the tank. He's always picking on all the other fish in the tank. I thought that JDs were more aggressive but the green terror is always flaring it's gills and chasing the JD around until the JD found somewhere to hide. Now I never see the JD, it's always in it's own little cave. Whats weird is it's a male and you'd think that is would be more aggressive but it's not. Is this just a terriorty thing? Or because it was just recently added in to the tank?

Yeah it would do that - GT's can be evil little blighters. I would say it is overstocked because of the aggression of all the fish:
Jags get to 4" so thats 8" for both
GT's grow to around a foot, so thats 24" for both
JD's grow to 8" so that's 16" for both of them
so a total of 48" but considering they are all pretty evil fish I would say he will have problems with aggression if he hasn't yet.

Jags get to 4"?? More like 12". Females of all those species wont get as large as the males but i agree on what your saying.

i agree with what you say but you cant use the inch per gallon rule with big cichlids.

I know you can't - he was asking (I think) whether there was to many fish in there, and I was trying to say that according the the inch per gallon rule there wasn't - but it was still overstocked because of the aggression of the fish as well as it would probably be a bit crowded.

And what Sam is saying, is that the inch per gallon rule DOES NOT apply to cichlids.

It applies to small fish like tetras and guppies, and only really works in tanks under 15 gallons.

He has now put the Jags in their own 55G tank for the time being.(there only 4 inches and 2 inches) Now in the 90G tank there's 3 JD and 2 GT.
