lol, i dont know about indulging.

i might just put the pleco from my 35g to the 75g or maybe ill go out and buy one thats is rare/special

i have a gold nugget/a common and some otto's in terms of suckers.

ill look around for another type and thats if i dont change the pleco from the 35g, or maybe i should get the other pleco which is in my mom's goldfish tank.

hes like 8 inches now and hes one of my fav fish in the house, always fights off the other fish for his vegetables and algue wafers
A good size pleco would be good with an Oscar. Oscars grow rather FAST and if the pleco is a lot smaller than the Oscar, chances are he could attack or nip at him. Mine is about the same size as my oscar but a lot thinner, and my oscar sometimes picks on him.

plecs do not clean up after oscars. plecs create more waste then oscars, a plec is possibly the single worst fish you could ever own for waste output.

Thank you.

The easiest way to clean up after an oscar is to do it yourself with a gravel vac.

I'd say put your gold nugget and your common in the tank, they need a bigger tank than 35 Gallons anyway. Then just leave the ottos in your 35G, and maybe you could up the number of them?

good idea neal, i think ill do that! i have 3 otto's in the 35g, maybe ill add 5 more, this may be a rumour but is it true that when in my numbers the otto's will school? i have 3 and there barely close to each other unless theres a cucumber around

without knowing your water conditions its hard to recommend a fish. i mena with my water i could keep and oscar and large syno in the same tank but if you have close to neutral water i dont think it would work.

I think a mystus Leucophasis might be ok but im not 100% on that. theyre a big black upside down cat. theyre pretty aggressive although i have doubts about one messing with an oscar.

the ph on my other tanks are 7.0 :D

and the other 3 are fully cycled and matured so i see no problems with this boy, except its twice as big lol :hey:

it totally depends on your Oscar's temprement weatehr it will be fine with a plec or not. Mine's soft as anything and he's quite happy with some tankmates that I wouldn't recommend for every Oscar. Your best bet to get them to co-exist is either to get all the fish for the tank as juvi's and let them grow up together, or wait until your O is maybe 6-9 months old and is developing his personality, then you should be able to guage if he'd be OK with other fish or not and weather he'd need more agressive tankmates to deal with him.

Getting a plec as clean up crew is probably the worst idea I've ever heard..... they're nearly as messy as Oscar's. That's not to say don't get one, I've a royal in with mine and it's a lovely addition to the tank, but don't expect him to do the cleaning for you. You'll need v good filtration to cope with them.

My oscar beat the heck out of my plec, so you'd possibly have to be looking at an adult plec of a larger type, and really if you want one of the larger plecs, you'll need a bigger tank. Commons and sailfins (gibbies) can reach up to 12-18", so you'd possibly need a 4 x 2 x 2ft rather than an 18", if you're wanting one of those plecs in there. Preferably longer for more floor space too. 18" is the minimum for an oscar too - as they have been known to reach 16". Mine managed ok, but he wasn't fully grown.

You'll need 10x the tank size filtration with an oscar (advice I was given - but it's not gospel), so I'd go for an FX5 or a filter of a similar spec (I think FX5 would be cheaper than an equivalent Eheim - if they have one!) and then have another one as back up for when you clean out your main one. But really, an oscar and a plec in a small tank, it's going to be one heck of a lot of water changes and gravel vacs. Have you thought about getting a couple of dither fish (silver dollars perhaps?) rather than a plec? Or if you go for a bigger tank, clown loaches make a much better clean up crew than plecs ;)

Good luck, post pics when you get it set up :D
