Hi everyone,

I have a sterbai cory with no barbels (was like this when I bought from LFS) the Corry is active and is feeding, on the front of its body it has some hazyness, is this anything to be worried about? (sorry pictures are not the best, he wont stay still!)

Any advice much appreaciated :good:

I had that on one of my female sterbais, it just vanished after a week. I didnt treat it with anything, just carried on with my normal 50% weekly water change....and she spawned the week after. :D

Could be a sort of fungus from the lfs. If you keep your water conditions perfect, he should be able to heal. The fact that he has no barbels means that he lost them to an infection already. He may be able to grow them back if he hasn't been that way for too long and if the root of the barbel wasn't permanently damaged.

Hope he pulls through, poor lil guy.

Looks similar to what a couple of my Sterbai developed within a couple of weeks of buying them from LFS, the fuzzy film on their forehead was so subtle. I treated the tank with Myxazin; increased the frequency of water changes (~20% every couple of days) for a couple of weeks; raised the thermostat on the heater a fraction to get temp readings of 25C. I had mixed results, one passed away becoming increasingly unsocial, while the other recovered and the remaining group did very well.
